Zodiac Super Sea Wolf ZO9209 Review “Extras”
I want to take a minute to explain the methodology behind the three-part review of the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf that we released yesterday.
The initial concept came to me a little after I, my wife, and a good friend had all purchased the same timepiece: the Zodiac ZO9209. The tri-purchase came about from helping my friend "T" (@lifewatchinlifedoin on IG) research and ultimately purchase his first genuine wristwatch. When we found the Super Sea Wolf, I knew instantly that my wife (@avery_and_wesley on IG) would also love the timepiece.
She loves dive watches, but they are usually too large for her wrists. She usually taps out at 40mm case diameters, especially when the lug-to-lug and case thickness specifications get out of control. Working in a classroom also necessitates a watch that is durable and less obtrusive than the average dive watch design.
When I saw the case design of the Z09209, the beautiful dial, hands, and bezel, well, I knew she'd love it.
Before she got home, I got to handle the Super Sea Wolf and it started growing on me.
I've always felt that a 40mm timepiece would be too small for my 7 1/2" wrists, but this Zodiac proved me wrong. It was strange, but we both came to the same conclusion concerning this one timepiece but from differing issues with watch wearability. The 40mm diameter and 11mm thickness are a sweet spot for us.
As we all wore our Super Sea Wolves, it became apparent that we all had unique experiences with the timepiece, and I wanted to capture them.
We all are pretty different but have the U.S. Navy in common. I served and am now retired, my wife is a Navy brat (I don't dig that term, but it fits here), and T is currently serving on active duty. The Navy means something to all of us, and having a timepiece associated with Naval service played a factor in the purchases.
So, that's where the idea was born. The respective authors took all the pictures in each review and did a pretty good job capturing what each of our Super Sea Wolves goes through in an average day.
In the future, I will get input from these authors for watch reviews where I can. These reviews were a fun exercise, and I look forward to doing something similar in the new future.
I hope you enjoyed and found the reviews helpful.
