New Watch Release Prediction Season
Ahh, I love this time of the year. Can you smell it? I can, the wafty aroma of the new watch release prediction season. It smells like wet metal, canvas, and dollar bills. I digress. As a new watch enthusiast, should you care about the watch release prediction season? I say yes.
More experienced watch enthusiasts with a platform are out in full force, providing the community with free knowledge. Are some of these predictions subjective? Yes. Is that the point? Again yes, but this tells only part of the story. Claiming total subjectivity negates the experiences of these watch enthusiasts in the media space. TGV of The Urban Gentry, Adrian Barker, and Sam and the Crew from the Casual Watch Talk live streams bring decades of experience, a small sample of the content available.
Another benefit of the release prediction season is each enthusiast's distinct perspective on focus. From the more technical aspects of the timepieces to the esoteric, there is something for everyone, and usually a topic I still need to consider. From the well-rounded artistic appreciation of TGV, the more pragmatic approach of Adrian Barker, and the wide-ranging understanding of the panel at The Casual Watch Talk channel-watching, their predictions have taught me about elements of timepieces I might not have considered otherwise.
Speaking of elements - let's talk about the rest of the watch market and what transpires should these predictions come true. Should any of these designs come to fruition, you can bet that more affordable brands, the mod community, and "homage" brands will get to work quickly. While some models came out before the Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711/1A-018, there was a run on similarly colored models across various brands soon after. Use this cliched phenomenon to your advantage and experience design elements in the inevitable affordable price point explosion.

While not precisely open-source information, watch-release predictions can often start a conversation in Nostradamian fashion. In the three years of my journey, I have begun to understand better my tastes in the design and technical aspects of timepieces I might not have otherwise considered.
