Jack Mason Strat-o-timer GMT: Espresso Review

The Jack Mason Strat-o-timer GMT: Espresso is in for review. This watch prioritizes form, fit, and function above all else and does so in a manner that should grab the attention of any watch enthusiast.

Form

The 40mm case diameter balances presence and wearability, while the 316L stainless steel construction ensures durability. The double-domed, boxed sapphire crystal enhances aesthetics, protects against scratches and impacts, and offers just the right amount of distortion at specific angles. The display caseback provides a view of the Miyota Caliber 9075 movement in action, adding a touch of mechanical charm to the watch and sophistication. Let's face it: many timepieces that are much more expensive do not offer you the opportunity to show off your movement.

Fit

With its 20mm lug width and 47mm lug-to-lug distance, the Jack Mason GMT sits comfortably on wrists of various sizes. I have a 7 5/8" (19.3675 cm) wrist, and the solid end links, quick-release feature, and effortless micro-adjust system allow for easy bracelet adjustment. The 7-link bracelet my Espresso came with was comfortable, worn snugly, or with some "jingle-jangle." Jack Mason also offers a 3-link option if that is more your style. Despite its robust build, the watch weighs just 170g, making it comfortable for extended wear.

I have a 7 5/8" (19.63 cm) wrist and. The Strat-o-timer fits nicely.

I’d advise anyone wearing this in a physically demanding profession to wear the bracelet a little tighter to deter possibly catching it on something and breaking a spring bar. I’d like to see Jack Mason throw a nylon strap in with a purchase of the Strat-o-timer in the future, as the review model did not come with one. After all, the Strat-o-Timer is a 20mm strap monster, so save your bracelet for your time off!

Function

Powered by the Miyota Caliber 9075 movement, the Jack Mason GMT offers reliable timekeeping with a true GMT function and jump hour complication. Introducing this Miyota movement into the watch market has provided enthusiasts with more attainable options in the "true" GMT category. The movement's 24 jewels and 42-hour power reserve ensure smooth operation and accuracy. The custom-branded rotor and 28,800 mph vibration frequency offer enthusiasts style and substance.

Who is this watch for?

Anyone who wants the functionality of a "true" GMT, but some specific professions come to mind.

Pilots: The Jack Mason GMT's functionality is handy for pilots who frequently travel across different time zones. Its accurate timekeeping and easy-to-read dual-time display allow pilots to keep track of home time while navigating the skies—cliche recommendation, I know.

Military members: See pilots above. Also, the 24-hour function can be a quick reference for those reporting in a military time format. The Strat-o-Timer's build quality will have no problem in most of our environments. Again, I recommend going with a strap during physically demanding evolutions.

Business Professionals: For those constantly on the move for business, the GMT function is handy for managing meetings and appointments in different time zones. Its sleek design and durable build make it a stylish yet practical accessory for the boardroom and beyond.

Travelers: Whether exploring new cities or embarking on adventures around the globe, the Jack Mason Strat-o-timer GMT ensures that travelers always know the time back home while immersing themselves in new experiences.

Divers: Despite its GMT functionality, the Jack Mason Strat-o-timer GMT is also suitable for diving, thanks to its 200m water resistance rating and robust construction. Divers can rely on its accuracy and durability even in the most challenging underwater environments.

Plenty of Swiss Super-LumiNova® BGW9, and X1 C3

The Jack Mason Strat-o-timer GMT is a timepiece that excels in form, fit, and function, making it a versatile companion for professionals in various fields. Its thoughtful design, comfortable wearability, and reliable performance make it a standout choice for those who value quality and craftsmanship in their timepieces. Whether in the cockpit, the boardroom, or on the high seas, the Jack Mason Strat-o-timer GMT is ready to accompany its wearer on their journey.
